Our International Collaboration with Anglia Ruskin University (England) Focused on Teacher Well-Being

One of the biggest highlights of our Winter 2025 semester was an incredible international collaboration with education colleagues at Anglia Ruskin University in England, focused on teacher well-being!

Our team from the Mental Health in the Digital Age Lab had the opportunity to visit ARU campuses, where we connected with inspiring faculty, students, and leaders who are just as passionate about supporting the next generation of teachers. A heartfelt thank you to Jenny Fogarty and Dr. Leanne Gray for such a warm and generous welcome!

Standout moments from the visit:

  • Exploring innovative approaches to initial teacher mentoring

  • Sharing our research on resilience-informed mentoring to strengthen relationships between associate and pre-service teachers

  • Visiting an amazing Primary School to observe a teacher trainee in action, and the mentor feedback process

  • Engaging in exciting conversations about a growing international partnership

What made this experience truly special was collaborating with people who care so deeply about the well-being of teachers, their students, and their communities.

This is just the beginning!

We’re excited to continue this work by presenting our collaborative research at the EdMedia + Innovate Learning conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, in May, and by welcoming our ARU colleagues to Ontario this fall to explore Canadian teacher education programs.

Thank you to everyone who is part of this meaningful and energizing partnership, including Jenny Fogarty, Dr. Leanne Gray, Dr. Jennifer Laffier, Madison Westley, and Jocelyn Hart!

The future of teacher education is brighter because of collaborations like this!

The Mental Health in the Digital Age Lab team is based across Turtle Island, the traditional lands of many diverse Indigenous Nations and Peoples. We acknowledge and express deep gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples who have cared for and continue to protect the lands, waters and resources on which we live, work, and learn. As a team committed to well-being, equity, and community flourishing, we are dedicated to ongoing learning, unlearning, respect, and action in support of truth and reconciliation. We encourage everyone engaging with our work to learn about the Indigenous territories they are on and consider how they can support Indigenous communities. Click here to learn more.
