As part of a Safer Internet Day initiative, we are excited to share a new micro-webinar, “How to Protect Your Health Information,” created by placement student Jacqueisha Phillips!

Jacqueisha is a third-year nursing student in the Bachelor of Nursing program in the Ontario Tech University Faculty of Health Sciences. In this presentation, she shares practical steps for keeping health information safe when using digital platforms, including healthcare apps and online patient portals.

The webinar also highlights important strategies for children and youth, including being cautious about sharing personal health details online, asking a trusted adult before signing up for apps or websites, and paying attention to quizzes, surveys, and “free” apps that may collect sensitive data.

Check out Jacqueisha's webinar here!

The Mental Health in the Digital Age Lab team is based across Turtle Island, the traditional lands of many diverse Indigenous Nations and Peoples. We acknowledge and express deep gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples who have cared for and continue to protect the lands, waters and resources on which we live, work, and learn. As a team committed to well-being, equity, and community flourishing, we are dedicated to ongoing learning, unlearning, respect, and action in support of truth and reconciliation. We encourage everyone engaging with our work to learn about the Indigenous territories they are on and consider how they can support Indigenous communities. Click here to learn more.
