Our team is excited to share our new journal publication, “How digital wellness is represented in school digital literacy and citizenship models: a qualitative comparative analysis,” published in Academia Mental Health and Well-Being.
As schools continue to prioritize digital literacy and digital citizenship, an important question remains: where does digital wellness fit?
Across 15 major digital literacy and citizenship frameworks developed over the last 10–15 years, we found that digital wellness constructs appeared to varying degrees. The analysis also highlighted ongoing ambiguity in terminology, with 'digital wellness' often represented as a subcomponent of broader digital literacy or digital citizenship frameworks.
The publication highlights that as digital environments and tools become increasingly complex, digital wellness should be more intentionally and explicitly embedded within frameworks and curricula. This integration is essential for supporting both learning and well-being in digital spaces for all students.
